Oral Hygiene & Teeth Whitening
Achieving and maintaining good oral hygiene is a critical part of looking after your whole health.
Continuous active care to maintain health is more comfortable, economical and smarter for you.
Continuous care can prevent:
- Cavities
- Gum and bone disease
- Bad breath
- The consequences of these bacterial diseases.
Since the mouth is one of the most highly infected parts of the body, continuous care is very important. It not only affects your gums and teeth, but your whole health, your heart and your baby if you’re pregnant. You also pass on bacteria to your children, family members and kissing partners. Good oral hygiene equals fresh breath and a healthy mouth. It’s your surest way to look better, feel better, be better.
First world standard of care is to:
- Brush properly at least twice a day, preferably with an Oral B electric toothbrush
- Floss daily to clean between your teeth
- Visit a good registered hygienist every four to six months
A hygenist will:
- Recommend the safest products to use,
- Guide you through proper home care that best suits your lifestyle
- Get rid of plaque and tartar build-up
Most of the bad bacteria in plaque (that sticky bio-film that builds up constantly) hate oxygen and many produce sulphur compounds that smell bad. That is why we go to great lengths to provide oral hygiene care that uses oxygen to neutralize these bacteria and their toxic products. Ultrasonic scalers with ozonated distilled water (we are the first in New Zealand to use Ozone for this purpose) is what we use in your mouth when we do your treatment. This is different to the conventional dental equipment, which can be up to 100,000x more infected than drinking water.
