Dr Xavier graduated from Otago University with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (with Distinction) and a Bachelor of Biomedical Science, later relocating to Auckland to be closer to family. Outside of dentistry, he enjoys painting, staying active at the gym, and exploring Auckland’s vibrant culinary scene (he’s also a strong advocate for Duck Island Ice Cream).
He is passionate about ongoing professional development, continually refining his skills to provide the most up-to-date and highest quality care. With a particular interest in dental anxiety management, sedation, oral surgery, biological endodontics and implants, Xavier is dedicated to helping patients achieve and maintain excellent oral health through proactive management and a holistic approach.
Understanding that dentistry can sometimes feel overwhelming, he prioritises clear communication and a calm, reassuring manner—helping you feel at ease every step of the way. Dr Xavier is currently participating in the ACE Institute's clinical implantology training, guided by top implantologists, specialists, and clinicians from New Zealand, Australia, and the USA.
· Oral and I.V. sedation
We understand that dentistry can sometimes feel stressful or overwhelming. That’s why Dr Xavier offers both oral and IV sedation options to make your visit as comfortable as possible—whether your treatment is short or long, surgical or non-surgical.
Sedation uses safe, carefully monitored medications to help reduce anxiety and create a calm, relaxed state throughout your procedure. Many patients describe it as feeling like time passes quickly and stress-free, making it easier to receive the care they need without worry.
Dr Xavier and his team are fully trained and equipped to provide this service, ensuring a safe, smooth and comfortable experience from start to finish.
· Wisdom teeth
Wisdom teeth can often cause problems if they don’t come through properly, which is why it’s important to have them assessed early—even if they aren’t painful yet. When left untreated, wisdom teeth can contribute to infections, crowding, gum disease, or other issues later in life.
At our clinic, Dr Xavier provides comprehensive wisdom teeth assessments to help identify any current or potential concerns. If removal is needed, we’re fully equipped with a state of the art CBCT machine. The world leading DS AXEOS- provides precise 3D imaging, enhancing your experience along with the modern surgical and sedation setup, altogether designed for safe, comfortable and efficient care.
· Biological Endodontics – safe root canal treatments.
A biological root canal procedure integrates minimally invasive cleaning and disinfection of the tooth with the application of highly biocompatible bioceramic materials, including calcium silicate or tricalcium phosphate. This approach aims to encourage natural tissue healing and minimise the likelihood of recurrent infection.
How do Bioceramics Function?
1. Bioactivity: In contrast to conventional resin or zinc oxide sealers that merely occupy space, bioceramics engage actively with the body's fluids to promote bone regeneration and tissue healing at the apex of the root.
2. Enhanced Sealing: The material absorbs moisture and expands slightly during the setting process, ensuring a tight fit within dentin tubules and forming a strong barrier against bacteria.
3. Alkaline pH: As bioceramics set, they release calcium hydroxide, creating a highly alkaline and naturally antimicrobial environment.
How Biological RCT compares to Conventional Methods
1. Material Composition: Biological root canals emphasise the use of natural, inert, and heavy-metal-free materials instead of synthetic resins, harmful cements, or conventional metal posts.
2. Irrigation and Cleaning: These methods frequently incorporate advanced and gentle disinfection techniques, such as ozone therapy or laser-activated irrigation, to thoroughly eliminate microbes within the intricate root structure while preserving healthy dentine.
3. Tissue Regeneration: The primary objective of the biological method is not merely to seal the canal but to promote the body's ability to accept and regenerate the surrounding tissues.
Potential Advantages:
1. Enhanced Healing Rates: Certain clinical research indicates that bioceramic sealers may lead to better periapical healing results when compared to traditional sealers.
2. Biocompatibility: Minimises the chances of negative inflammatory reactions and is typically preferred in holistic or biological dentistry.
